  1. pHLevel  

The pH level of the pool should be right within the acceptable value, which is between 7.2 and 7.6. Anything more or below that value could propose some problems. Chlorine keeps the pool healthy, as its job is to ward off pathogens that may thrive in stagnant water. The ideal chlorine level is between 1.0 and 3.0 parts per million. If there’s too much of it, swimmers will develop red eyes and start to itch. If the chlorine level is too low, then it can’t efficiently perform its work as a disinfectant.  

  1. TDS

TDS pertains to Total Dissolved Solids and it pertains to the total measure of all soluble substances dissolved in the water. For regular freshwater swimming pool, the TDS level of 1,500 ppm is the maximum recommended value. If it’s more than that, then the pool water will become cloudy and the surfaces become stained. The water gets hard and acquires a salty taste.  

  1. CyanuricAcid 

Cyanuric acid is usually added to the pool to stabilize chlorine that tends to dissipate in direct sunlight. It also allows homeowners to easily manage the pool’s chemistry, thus allowing for weekly water maintenance, instead of daily. However, the build-up of this chemical in the pool may also cause a lot of problem, particularly in allowing the growth of chlorine-resistant microorganisms.
